INSURANCE UPDATE 9/28/24

I am so grateful for your patience while I get my credentials with insurance companies!

I am now working on two ways to process insurance.

OPTION #1

I am getting set up with Headway to handle insurance and billing. The advantage with Headway is that I am part of a large group of practitioners, so there is already an account with most insurance plans and I can be approved sooner in some cases.

If you have entered your insurance information into SimplePractice, I have emailed you about the switch and you should receive an email from Headway to finish setting up your account. You will be able to see your cost per session ahead of time and can check your benefits through the client portal.

INSURANCE TIMELINE

• Aetna - accepting NOW

• Blue Cross/Blue Shield - accepting some plans NOW

• Cigna - accepting NOW

• United - accepting some plans NOW

• UPMC* - no timeline given

  * Headway does not have a finished contract with these providers yet, so read Option #2 below if this applies to you.

OPTION #2

I am also working with a local company, FocusMD, to get credentialed on my own. This takes a little longer, but I should be able to work with more insurance companies this way.

If your insurance is one that is not set up in Headway, I will keep you in SimplePractice until/if your insurance becomes part of the Headway network.

Once I have a timeline for this option, I’ll post it here.

This will be what I use for clients who have insurance plans that Headway doesn’t support.

FOR ALL CLIENTS

If your copay is too high or you have a reason to continue with self-pay, I will work with you on a case-by-case basis. There may be situations where I will not be able to continue with self-pay because of insurance company rules, so we will be sure to discuss this if it comes up.
